Happy Sunday Slow Down Society!!

this is the 21st edition of the Sunday Slow Down -- which is a weekly recap of things that have been happening in my world -- both online and in real life.

We ended up taking a ferry to Alcatraz this past week -- the kids liked hearing about our quick trip to Angel Island and pointed out that they, too, would like to go somewhere.

So we took 2/3 of the kids -- the oldest is away at college.

it was a super cold day, but it was clear, and we took the very first boat of the day so it wasn't super crowded.

The audio tour is very well done and is free along with the price of admission (includes the ferry ride).

Each person gets their own handheld device and the recorded voice tells you where to turn, where to stop, etc.

If you are planning a trip to SF, allot about 4 hours or so. When you are at the top part of the jail, you can walk out to some absolutely breathtaking views of the city, and you can also take photos from the boat with the skyline in the background.

I ended up taking quite a few photos of the rules that were posted along the way --- it seems as if perhaps my parenting style can be considered somewhat penitentiary-ish?
