HAPPY Wednesday, Slow Cookerers!

I've been getting a lot of emails lately about the price of groceries, and the cost of fresh food.

I hear you and I get it.

I do believe that when you plan ahead, the price of fresh food, or food flash-frozen at the peak of freshness (your frozen bagged veggies) is actually quite cost effective.

It does take some planning, however.

Otherwise you are starving and reach for a packaged pizza or run through the drive through.

Also, I've written about this before, but my favorite way to slow cook is truly The Lazy Way.

I cook this way OFTEN. On Monday I was at Trader Joe's and in their "new stuff" area there was a jar of Mango Tomatillo sauce.

I poured half the jar onto 3 frozen chicken breast halves, and cooked on low for 7 hours.

When the meat was finished, I shredded it completely and served in warm corn tortillas with shredded cheese and sour cream.

The next night I stirred the leftovers into cooked rice for a play on "Spanish Rice."

And finally, the slow cooker meal plans really are the most efficient way to stock your fridge, freezer, and pantry for the week.

These are reusable -- print out your favorites and recycle the weeks over and over again so you'll never need to worry about dinner again. :-)
