Hi there , and Happy Sunday!
Welcome back to another edition of The Sunday Slow Down, my weekly recap of things going on in my life and some little nuggets and things to think
about.
If I had to guess, you probably first found me because of a crockpot recipe you found online (or maybe, you picked up one of my cookbook) when you were D.O.N.E. with meal prepping for a
family full of picky eaters.
Whatever the reason…I’m so glad you decided to open this email up on this glorious Sunday and give my words a peek.
I’ve been thinking about something lately…about the work that I do and the types of recipes I create.
Over the years, I relied on my crockpot slow cooker to save me from the Sunday Scramble—you know exactly what I’m talking about,.
It’s another week of meal prepping and chopping vegetables and making rice and trying to get the timing juuuuuuuust right so you can have dinner on the table before basketball practice or
band rehearsal or whatever thousand and one extracurricular activities ended up on your agenda for the week.
And for a time, I had people tell me that the Instant Pot would be the answer to my problems as it really started to make a name for
itself.
I mean, it’s fast…it *is* in the name, right?! ;-)
But the more I was cooking with it and trying to make it a staple in our household, the more I found myself sticking to what I
know.
Because to me…a slow cooker (aka crockpot) is really just a daily practice in slow living.
I always feel like I’ve got enough on my plate, like…how could I possibly add more?
I also have a household full of other people in it (plus the neighbors, plus the inlaws, plus the pets)...and if I’m not careful and intentional about how I spend my days, then well…sometimes I start to feel like that pressure release valve on the top of an Instant Pot.
I think that’s why I’m so passionate about helping other women live slowly and with
purpose—more specifically, a purpose that feels good and is defined solely by you and nobody else.
