Happy Sunday, !!
And just like that, we are at the end of July and for a great deal of us, the end of summer.
This summer was pretty darn amazing, if I do say so myself, and I do, so that means it was!
;-)
I had a house full of teenagers (and a tween) -- and the acronym FOMO was used quite a bit in everyday conversation around the kitchen table this summer.
A typical conversation would be something like this:
"Johnny and his family are going to Italy next week and I have FOMO."
or something like that.
FOMO, in case you don't know, stands for:
Fear of Missing Out
After pressing my teens for more info and asking pointed questions about what they thought they were missing, they usually realized that the every day life they were living was actually pretty darn good --
and they were, in fact, NOT missing out.
So I decided to re-write FOMO. I had a manuscript to deliver on Slow Living and since I talk so much about what it means and what it doesn't to live a Slow Life in the Slow Living Podcast and in these emails --- I changed it up a bit.
FOMO now means (at least in these parts)
Figure Only Myself Out
and that really is the take-away message I'm trying to impart onto my kids, and now to you.
Unplug.
Stop scrolling.
Keep your eyes on your own paper.
go within and decide what it is that you really want and what really matters TO YOU.
No one else.
Live life on your own terms, in your own way, and do it nice and slowly.
I am so happy you are here and are on my list.
