staying cozy and at peace
November 13, 2022
Hello there, and Happy Sunday.
It's been super cold all over the place this week and this week's Slow Down is all about staying cozy and warm.
I've been doing an awful lot of coaching lately and the idea of "protection" keeps coming up with my clients and the students in my Simple Shortcuts to Peace course. When you are cold, you add on layers to keep yourself protected.
If you're going out in the world and might come across people or circumstances that might upset you, a great way to keep yourself whole and on track is to "protect yourself" by creating boundaries or steering clear.
So think about this as you move
forward into the upcoming cold and dark months and as we enter the bustle of the holiday season.
Feel protected. Stay warm and cozy. Do the things that feel good and keep you nourished and warm and protected.
It may seem a bit selfish or self-absorbed to consider yourself the center of the
universe.
I know, I get it. But hear me out --- you are the center of whatever is happening in your
life because how you filter what you are doing or thinking or seeing or observing is YOUR experience and no one else's.
You are absolutely the center of whatever is happening in your life -- and to process it in
a way that feels good and is useful/helpful, you need to protect yourself.
Listen in as I share the thought shift that needs to happen in order for you to decide once and for all that you are IN CHARGE.
And you need to protect yourself so you can do your Being In Charge
properly.
;-)
This isn't a woe-is-me, I'm going to embrace martyrdom because no one else can possibly do it as good as I can --
NO.
When you are in charge, you most certainly can delegate!! ;-)
But you need to take care of yourself -- all of your wants and needs FIRST.
Because it's been so chilly, and we've all been wearing puffer jackets and vests pretty much non-stop, I decided Sheldon also needed one.
I found this at Target for $15 when I went in for shampoo.
I think he likes it!
I got a new pair of Uggs this past week after seeing a mom on the soccer field wear them.
They are wedgies which gives me some height and lift since I'm only 5 feet -- and they are super warm which is great because the heater at work has been out for the past two weeks.
These were definitely a splurge, but my birthday is coming so I decided to go for it.
The story is a response about a guy asking a question online -- of whether or not he was being a jerk about having his wife park her older car around the corner on the street and not in the driveway because his new Tesla was parked there.
I sent the reporter a rather long response about it being dark at 6am and even if there weren't "bad guys" in the area there are definitely racoons and mountain lions (I live in this same area) but only a tiny snippet of my advice was included. I suggested that he walk her to her car -- be chivalrous -- since even after initially agreeing to this parking arrangement she felt slighted.
A lot of this is about feelingprotected and cherished -- which goes back to the theme of this week's newsletter and podcast episode.
:-)
Okie dokie, that's all for today!
lots and lots of love ---- have an absolutely lovely day. Stay cozy and warm and cherished and protected.
