I followed my own recipe, but decided to not stir in the sour cream at the very end, but instead added a dollop to the bowls at the table.
We only had a touch of sour cream left in the house
-- so this was a good compromise.
And it was delicious -- and the bit of sour cream in the bowl provided the same effect --
My kids are much older than when I first made this soup, so putting mushrooms in the soup is okay -- no one makes gagging noises or starts talking about
fungus at the table.
This is a good thing, probably.
But I've got to admit that I sort of miss the younger years when I needed to persuade and cajole and barter with the kids to try new things.
