summer time meal planning with your slow cooker

Published: Wed, 06/03/15

Happy June!!

I hope all is well. Thank you for all of the well-wishes on our busy graduation season. We've got one down and two to go!

And I'm becoming quite excited about summer, and spending
more and more time out in the yard.

I love it.

I know that slow cooking goes hand in hand with the fall and cooler weather, but I honestly STILL use my slow cookers more often than not for our family dinners.

I think you should, too!

Slow cookers take up very little electricity to run when compared to your stove or oven, and they do not heat your kitchen up the way those other appliances do.

You're not going to notice that your AC is struggling to keep the kitchen cool, and you're not going to be standing over a hot stove, trying not to drip into your pasta sauce.

(ew. that's really gross, steph.)

I've mentioned before that I really like making meal plans. It keeps me on my grocery budget and it really saves a lot of time and energy knowing that each day's main meal is already planned for.

Slow Cooking forces you to meal plan already -- you've got to have the food in the fridge or freezer before you can plop it into the pot to cook all day. This means that just by using your slow cooker regularly, you're ALREADY a meal planner.

Congratulations!!

If you'd like a bit more help with your meal plans, you should check out my Monday thru Friday meal plan collections.

There are 14 meal plans in all -- and there is certain to be a plan to please even the pickiest of eaters!

If you'd like to create your own meal plans, you might find this list of summer slow cooking favorites helpful.

You should have seen the kids watching me as I decorated the crockpots in the backyard with their swim goggles and water wings...

I hope you're having a good week so far!

Happy slow cooking!

[PS. Father's Day is coming. The dad in your life would like ribs.]
