How slow cooking forces you to save both time and money

Happy Sunday, Slow Cookerers!!

I have a bit of a confession to make...

I get asked sometimes to speak at cooking events or conferences --- and I've got to admit that I always feel a bit out of place.

I get it that I write cookbooks and I spend a lot of time thinking about recipes but really at my core --- I'm not a foodie.

I cook because I need to eat and I need to feed the kids.

I am not the kind of person who is ever going to have a Zen Moment chopping an onion.

I like slow cooking (crockpotting) because I can get the cooking for the day done and over with while I'm still wide awake and heavily caffeinated.

and because of that I end up saving time and money.

When you have a fully stocked freezer, fridge, and pantry and decide to cook at home you will ALWAYS end up saving time and money --- simply because you aren't wasting valuable thinking time at the end of a busy work day trying to "figure out dinner" -- and you aren't reaching for the phone to order take out ---

it's pretty awesome to walk into the house at the end of a hectic day to a fully cooked meal.

And I've made it even easier.

I have created 14 separate meal plans for the slow cooker. Each one has an itemized grocery list -- so all you need to do is print out the list or put it in your phone and follow it.

Just by following the list you will have ALL the food in the house necessary for an entire week's worth of meals.

Here is the sales page for the meal plans: http://stephanieodea.com/meal-plans/

Each Meal Plan has 5 recipes and the packets have been selected to reflect the wide variety of slow cooker meals that I have available in my cookbooks and on the A Year of Slow Cooking website.

I decided to offer 5 recipes, because it's the busy work week that really needs meal plan help, and since slow cooking lends itself to leftovers, I think you'll find that the meals can easily be stretched to last longer than 5 days if you'd like.

Each packet sells for $3.25, which is about 65 cents a recipe.

You can save the packets to your hard drive to have forever and ever and ever. Yay!
