35 Slow Cooker Take Out Fake Out Recipes

Is it 2018 yet?
I'm exhausted. You're exhausted.
I know.
(this is where I'm supposed to insert something witty and upbeat. I've got nothing.)
Except, I am happy you are here, and are reading this.
I can tell by looking at my website stats that most people are not hanging out online reading recipes right now.
Which is exactly what SHOULD be happening.
You are shopping. You are preparing. You are making lists and checking them and crossing them off and then adding to them and including circles and stars astericks and arrows and highlighted notes so you don't forget anything.
You're also ordering an awful lot of take out.
It's all good ---- I'm in the exact same boat.
Tonight we're going to have a Take Out Fake Out classic:
Chinese Lemon Chicken.
Here is the recipe, if you'd like to join us.
The Ingredients:
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast pieces or equivalent
1/2 cup flour (I used Pamela's baking mix because we are gf)
1 teaspoon kosher salt
6 ounces(1/2 can) frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
3 tablespoons ketchup
1/2 tablespoon or so olive oil for browning chicken.
The Directions:
--cut chicken into strips or largish chunks
--dredge in flour and salt, shake off excess
--brown chicken in a skillet with a bit of olive oil (you are not trying to cook the chicken--just give it some color and get the flour mixture to stick a bit)
--place into crockpot -- a 4-quart is probably the best size or put a piece of corningware or pyrex into a large slow cooker so your chicken doesn't get lost in such a big pot.
--mix the rest of the ingredients in a separate bowl and pour over the top of chicken pieces
--cover and cook on high for 4 hours, low for 6-8
Serve over rice, drizzle with remaining sauce.
This tastes amazing all on it's own, but next time I might add a bit of red pepper flakes to the grown-up portions for a bit of a kick.
Not in the mood for chicken?
No worries. I've put together a list of the top 35 Take Out Fake Out recipes you can find on the website.
and if you'd prefer a printable version here is an EBook (PDF) with everything in an easy-to-read format.
ENJOY YOUR DAY. ENJOY YOUR FAMILY.
Happy slow cooking.
