Howdy, Slow-Cookerers!

I wanted to share with you a super cool recipe today --- did you know that you can make perfectly steamed tamales in corn husks in the crockpot?

You can.

You really really really (really!!) can.

Bobby Flay's mind just blew open...
This is a rather involved recipe with lots of step-by-step directions and photos.

I originally posted this recipe way back in 2008 when I used my crockpot everyday for a year --

and since then I've made quite a few varieties of tamales. You do not have to have them meat-filled if you'd prefer vegetarian.

You can also absolutely use whatever leftover pot roast or other meat you have in the fridge/freezer.

The meat HAS TO BE COOKED. This is not a recipe for raw meat. The slow cooker is being used to cook the masa, and heat through the filling.

Do not be intimidated --- I *promise* it's not all that hard, and it's a really fun activity to do with your family.

Enjoy!! Happy Slow Cooking!!

have a great afternoon, steph
